Zahnärztliche Mitteilungen (zm) is a dental journal published by the German Dental Association (BZÄK) and the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists (KZBV) and produced by the German Medical Publishers .
Reference circle
Every dentist working in Germany or who is domiciled in Germany and is a member of his state dental association (around 73,000) receives the magazine as part of his membership. The newspaper subscription fee is settled with his chamber fee (approx. € 300 per quarter). The subscription price for other subscribers is € 168 per year (single issue € 7).
Frequency of publication
The zm is published twice a month, on the 1st and 16th of each month, and contains health , dental and general medical topics. It is also an important print product for advertisements in the dental sector in Germany. In addition to product advertisements, zm contains a job market for dental assistants and dental assistants , with and without further training . There are also sections on the practice search and practice sales.
Editorial part
The zm is the central bulletin of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists (KZBV) and the German Dental Association (BZÄK) for dentists. It provides information on health policy developments as well as on professional political issues that are of national importance.
politics
This includes reports from the Federal Assembly of the BZÄK and the Representative Assembly of the KZBV. In addition, there are regular statements by the top professional representatives on health policy issues. The zm reports and comments on new laws that are relevant to the health sector. Guest comments and reports from the ministries complement the political part.
Advanced training
Each issue is dedicated to a specific, current area of advanced training. This part is supplemented by revision courses and general medical articles with dental relevance.
Identification of people
The zm plays an important role in the area of police work : If corpses are unknown and / or unrecognizable, the dentition is often the only way of identification, because it is as individual as a fingerprint . For this purpose, descriptions of the teeth, special features (e.g. misaligned teeth ) and often x-rays are published by the police in the hope that a dentist will recognize the status of the teeth as that of one of his patients.
Website
In addition to the print product, the zm website provides up-to- date reports on all relevant topics relating to the practice of dentistry. This includes a separate area for young dentists to make it easier for them to start their professional lives. In the video area, under the name zm-tv, short videos on both technical and health policy topics are available. Online surveys and announcements of advanced training events complete the offer.

The first year appeared in 1910. According to the publisher, the print run is 83,651 (as of 2010) and the widespread print run is 79,772.
