Zambia Energy Corporation (Zam-En), formerly the Power Division of Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines, was the largest electricity supplier in the copper mining industry of Zambia . Power Division of ZCCM was founded in 1950.

Power Division of ZCCM was privatized in November 1997 and renamed Zambia Energy Corporation. Cinergy Global Power, USA and National Grid, UK , each took over 38.5 percent of the shares, the remaining 23 percent remained with Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines Investment Holdings and thus state-owned.

As of February 22, 2006, Zambia Energy Corporation has held 77 percent of the shares in Copperbelt Energy Corporation . This was outsourced in 1997 in order to be able to meet the special needs of the Copperbelt more quickly. Zambia Energy Corporation operates the electricity transport in Zambia outside of the Copperbelt, i.e. the construction of lines and transformer stations. Since the main energy consumption and the corresponding infrastructure are in the Copperbelt, Zambia Energy Corporation plays a role primarily as the parent company of Copperbelt Energy Corporation. Both companies provide high tech infrastructure services for Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation .

Accordingly, the establishment of the connections to Malawi and Tanzania would fall within the Zam-En's business area. This in turn should only take place when the Copperbelt releases the corresponding personnel capacities.
