Zancona (Tuscany)

Zancona is a district of Arcidosso in the province of Grosseto , Tuscany region in Italy .

geography

The place is located on the river of the same name about 2 km southwest of the main town Arcidosso on Monte Labbro . The place is at 775 m and has about 80 inhabitants. West of the river on the opposite side of Zancona is the district of Le Macchie (750 m, approx. 100 inhabitants).

history

At the time of the Etruscans , Zancona was the easternmost inhabited place belonging to the community of Roselle . Finds can be traced back to the 4th century BC. Prove.

The Chiesa di Sant'Anna church
  • Chiesa di Sant'Anna , church from the first half of the 19th century in the Rione Chiesa
  • Croci di Baldassarre Audiberti , two wooden crosses from the 19th century by the clergyman Baldassarre Audiberti (1760–1852). One is near the river at Case del Ponte , the other in the higher part at La Crocina .
