Zappacosta , also Alfie Zappacosta (actually Alfred Peter Zappacosta ), (* 1953 in Sora , Italy ) is a Canadian singer.

life and career

Six months after his birth, Zappacosta moved with his family to Toronto (Canada), where he began his career in the 1970s with the band Surrender, with whom he also made his first recordings and publications.

In 1983 he began his solo career, followed a year later with his first album Zappacosta with the singles We Should Be Lovers and Passion . Due to the success of his first album, he also won the Juno Award for Most Promising Male Vocalist of the Year in 1984 (most promising male singer of the year). He was one of many Canadian singers of the Canadian benefit song Tears Are Not Enough from 1985. His next album AZ he released a year later. His single Overload , which can be heard in the film Dirty Dancing , has contributed to greater international fame .

Zappacosta took part in some theater productions, for example in 2001 he played a version of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar .
