Zaradachet Hajo

Zaradachet Hajo also Zerdeşt Haco (* 1950 in Syria ) is a Kurdish linguist , author and translator .

Life

Hajo studied at the Free University of Berlin . He received his doctorate in 1979 in Berlin on the subject of studying Indo-Iranian languages . Since 1982 he has taught at the universities in Berlin, Bremen and Hamburg.

From 1998 to 2013, Hajo was the chairman of the Kurdish PEN Center , which is based in Germany, but plans to move its activities to Diyarbakir in Turkey .

Works

Hajo has worked on a translation of the Bible into Kurmanji Kurdish in the past and published his linguistic studies in Kurdish newspapers and magazines. A collection of his poems was printed under the English title Songs from the Exile .

He translated poems by the German-speaking Kurd Nazif Telek into Kurdish.
