Tim Stamper (born February 1961 , full name Timothy David Joseph Stamper ) and Chris Stamper (born October 1958 , full name Christopher Timothy John Stamper ) are video game designers and the founders of the British video game company Rare .

Career

In 1982 Tim and Chris Stamper founded the development studio Ashby Computer Graphics (ACG) , which published games under the name Ultimate Play The Game . The video game company Rare emerged from this in 1985 . The first game developed by the Stamper brothers is JetPac , released in 1983 . After that Tim and Chris Stamper were involved in many game developments, initially directly in the developments, later more in a supervisory role. In 1992, the Stamper brothers and her team developed a new technology with which it was possible game world and figures first as 3D objects on Silicon Graphics - workstations to model and in True Color to render . These images were then converted and used in the form of pixel graphics for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System console . This technology was considered to be groundbreaking and was particularly used in the SNES game Donkey Kong Country .

On January 2nd, 2007 it was announced that Tim and Chris Stamper would step down from the company management after more than 20 years. After their resignation, Mark Betteridge and Gregg Mayles took over management of the company.
