from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Zambon publishing house is a German publishing house with an international program and is based in Frankfurt am Main . The company was founded in 1973 by Giuseppe Zambon . According to the sociologist Ulrike Heß-Meining, it is left-wing extremist , but has z. B. with Robin de Ruiter also right-wing esoteric and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories in the program.

history

The company was founded in 1973 initially as a distributor of Italian and other foreign language literature and posters in Germany. In 1990 there were 2,000 German bookstores among its customers. In the 1980s, Zambon also opened a shop in downtown Frankfurt. According to his own account, Zambon, who has a PhD in business administration, is running his own book program as a “hobby” so that books that appear important to him are published. In 1997, the company also took over the distribution of the cult Moleskine notebook for Germany and Austria.

When the pro-Palestinian activist and Zambon author Vittorio Arrigoni was kidnapped and murdered in the Gaza Strip in April 2011 , Giuseppe Zambon suspected Israel in a press release published on Hartmut Barth-Engelbart's website of being behind the crime, even though a radical Islamist group was one Sent a video message demanding the release of their imprisoned leader and threatening Arrigoni's murder. Members of this group were later identified and identified as perpetrators by the Hamas government of the Gaza Strip: two of them were killed during arrest, and two others were sentenced to life imprisonment. Two accomplices received long prison sentences.

In autumn 2013, Zambon-Verlag participated in the Guadalajara Book Fair at the booth of the German Book Trade Association , which was supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy . He applied u. a. a publication with handouts for the anti-Israel boycott-disinvestment-sanctions campaign . The ministry and the stock exchange association argued that they had no influence on the selection of books by the exhibiting publishers, nor on the participation of the publishers themselves.

Publishing program

In addition to its German-language program, the publisher also has an extensive program in Spanish and especially in Italian. It is a popular place of publication for anti-Zionist literature, predominantly from the left spectrum, and among other things also has right-wing esoteric and Stalinist titles in its program. Its authors include:

In addition, Zambon has also acquired the German-language rights to some of the books by Dario Fo and Mikis Theodorakis .

The publishing program includes, for example, the work Stalin viewed differently, published in German in 2013 , in which the Belgian political author Ludo Martens describes Josef Stalin as a “rational and self-critical”, “prudent, intelligent and forward-looking statesman with an eye on the class struggles that are still taking place in of the USSR at the time ”,“ who defended and upheld the achievements of the October Revolution ”and was wrongly scolded by Trotsky as a bureaucrat.

Robin de Ruiter , author of the anti-Semitic conspiracy theory book The 13 Satanic Bloodlines and otherwise at home in the ultra-Catholic milieu, published the German edition of September 11, 2001 - The Reichstag of George W. Bush , in which speculations about the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 were published by Zambon . September 2001 . De Ruiter's anti-Semitism, however, is less motivated by the people, the right-wing Catholic sees Judaism and German National Socialism merely as tools of a global conspiracy by Illuminati and Antichrists . Nonetheless, de Ruiter occasionally invokes the same sources as the Völkische , invoking allegations of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, known as anti-Semitic invention .

reception

Armin Pfahl-Traughber found the book Antideutsche! Published by Anton Stengl at Zambon 2012 for the hpd . The emergence and decline of a political direction as "informative and rich in material ..., ... but largely put together without care and rigor". The work "disappoints ... over long stretches", because "too many individual dates and quotations are strung together without careful consideration". Traughber criticized z. B. incorrect classification of cited sources or the blanket referencing of a statement by "source: wikipedia".

Stake Traughber threw in his 2011 review of James Petras ' Lord or Servant? whose German translation was published by Zambon in 2010, raised the question of whether the author was referring to the terms “Zionist network of power in the USA” or “Zionist power structure”, which he uses so often that he mostly only speaks of “ZM” says that it is not aware that neo-Nazi Jew haters speak of the “ Zionist-occupied government ”. And asks whether “this similarity does not reveal much of at least structural similarities in thinking”. Petras climbs "into a distorted picture of secret power that is hardly distinguishable from anti-Semitic claims", "has little to do with understandable criticism and instead uses stereotypical views of conspiratorial action".

In 2011, Peter Blastenbrei found in the cover culture magazine the volume Palestine - Ethnic Cleansing and Resistance, edited and partly co-authored by Giuseppe Zambon himself, "confused over large areas ... and riddled with minor and major errors". He criticized the imbalance, largely dispensing with political and economic analysis and the extensive lack of verifiable sources, even in the case of extremely controversial issues, but praised the opulent furnishings of the 2.5 kg heavy "Tome", which is equipped with almost 300 images and maps and weighs only 35 Euros.

Jürgen Elsässer praised 2005 in Junge Welt , the 2005 installed at Zambon memoirs memories of a red witch - Forty years of passion and power on the side of Slobodan Milosevic , in the Mira Markovic all current allegations against herself and her husband Slobodan Milosevic rejects as a "document of the first Quality".
