life and work

youth

Elias Davidsson was born in Palestine as the son of German parents of Jewish faith who had emigrated from Germany in 1931 and 1935 (he later replaced the family name of his father David Kahn with the patronymic Davidsson in accordance with the Icelandic naming convention ). Davidsson first lived in Tel Aviv , later in Jerusalem . He spent parts of the second decade of his life in France, where he was temporarily a member of the socialist - Zionist youth organization Hashomer Hatzair .

music

Already in childhood he made attempts at composition and studied piano and composition in Cologne, Freiburg and Basel, among others with Klaus Huber , Jürg Wyttenbach , Jacques Wildberger , Thomas Kessler and Roland Moser . From 1962 he lived in Iceland and took Icelandic citizenship. After twenty years as an IT programmer, he was the first composer in Iceland to start composing computer-aided avant-garde music. In 1976 his Piano Trio (with percussion) was performed at the Nordic Music Days in Reykjavík . Landslög followed , a fantasy based on Icelandic folk tunes . With Cheetahs, Impotent , he presented a work for musical theater. As a result, Davidsson gave up composing concert music and devoted himself to practice pieces. The more than 20 collections for various instruments that have been created in this way include the Graena Bokin with 36 piano pieces, a collection of cello pieces and the 18 piano duets recommended by the Association of German Music Schools The Red Carousel - Das Rote Karussell .

Davidsson, who plays the accordion and lithophone in addition to the piano , has lived in Alfter near Bonn since 2008 .

politics

Davidsson is considered to be Iceland's main proponent of anti-Israel and anti-American theories.

According to his own statements, Davidsson has been campaigning for a one-state solution to the Middle East conflict since the 1980s and was a co-founder of the Iceland-Palestine association. On the occasion of an exhibition to mark the 100th anniversary of the first World Zionist Congress in Basel he sat in a letter to the Basler Zeitung the Zionist polemic with the Nazi racial ideology same, in which only the term "race" is replaced by the term "people". He regards himself as "Palestinian of Jewish descent". He declares himself an anti-Zionist on the basis of the “universal principles of human dignity and respect for human rights”.

In the 1990s Davidsson developed the thesis that economic sanctions are inadmissible for reasons of human rights or criminal law and published three articles on this in legal journals.

In 1997 Davidsson charged the Basel cantonal government with alleged " racial discrimination " because it wanted to contribute to the 100th anniversary of the Zionist Congress and because Zionism was allegedly a "racist ideology". The public prosecutor dropped the proceedings due to a lack of suspicion and Davidsson's complaint also failed in court.

On November 28th and 29th, 2009 Davidsson was together with Michael Buback , Odfried Hepp , Klaus Rainer Röhl and Michael Vogt speaker of the V. Bielefelder Ideenwerkstatt of the "Burschenschaft Normannia-Nibelungen" under the title Terrorism - Freedom fight, fanaticism or state-directed violence? .

In 2011 Davidsson published a series of conspiracy-theoretical articles about the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 in the journal Ossietzky , in which he denied the official results of the investigation. He called Islamist terrorism a "myth".

When the operator of the Islamist website Muslim-Markt , Yavuz Özoguz , organized a trip to Iran in 2012 , where Özoguz himself was accompanied by his wife Fatima, Jürgen Elsässer , Gerhard Wisnewski , Karl Höffkes , Konrad Fischer , the FDP state candidate Claus Hübscher , Ralf Flierl and Davidsson attended, the visit was sharply criticized in view of Ahmadinejad's denial of the Holocaust and Israel's right to exist as legitimizing the Iranian system.
