Roland Moser
Roland Moser (born April 16, 1943 in Bern ) is a Swiss composer and university professor.
biography
He received his musical training in Bern, Freiburg im Breisgau and Cologne . From 1969 to 1984 he was a teacher for theoretical subjects and new music at the Winterthur Conservatory , and since 1984 he has held a teaching position at the Basel Conservatory (class for composition, instrumentation and music theory). He was a member of the Ensemble Neue Horizonte Bern . He lives with his family in Allschwil .
Awards
- 1981: Conrad Ferdinand Meyer Prize
- 2007: Marguerite Staehelin composition prize of the Swiss Tonkünstlerverein.

So far, Moser has written around 50 works: for voices, chamber music, some pieces for various orchestras and also stage works. Moser publishes at Edition Gravis, German music publisher for serious music, in Bad Schwalbach.

- Ding (1973) for orchestra. (10 short sentences based on hexagrams 50-59 of the Chinese book of wisdom I Ching .)

- 12 Heinelieder . For voices with accompaniment (1970–1985, low soprano)
- Bild-Refraction (2000, orchestral variations )
- Oh but oh! Musical reflection on the cantata Just for everyone his own , BWV 163 by Johann Sebastian Bach . (Recitative with chorale. First performed by the JS Bach Foundation on November 16, 2012 in Trogen AR.)
Stage works
- Brentano Fantasies (1988–1995, based on the times of Philipp Otto Runge for soprano, baritone and piano; texts by Clemens Brentano )
- Avatar (Moser based on Théophile Gautier ), comical and fantastic opera.
- Rahel and Pauline. Music theater (letter scenes), which focuses on the intimate correspondence of two extraordinary women in Berlin at the beginning of the 19th century: Rahel Levin Varnhagen and Pauline Wiesel. The main role is played by a mezzo-soprano , along with two actors and five instruments. An afterword comes from Imre Kertész . First performance September 12, 2007 in the Lucerne Theater as part of the Lucerne Festival . Commissioned by Pro Helvetia .

- String sextet in 2 movements. Passionato - tranquillo (approx. 18 min)
- Wind quintet Small differences over a reason - 11 variations for wind quintet (2005)
