Ossietzky is an anti-militarist , pacifist "two-week publication for politics / culture / economy " published in Berlin . The magazine is named after Carl von Ossietzky . It is available through specialist bookstores or by subscription . The circulation per issue is approx. 2000 copies.

Founded in 1997 by the journalist Eckart Spoo (1936–2016), who was also the editor in charge until 2013, Ossietzky is edited by Matthias Biskupek , Rainer Butenschön , Daniela Dahn , Rolf Gössner , Ulla Jelpke and Otto Köhler . In addition to his successor Katrin Kusche, Spoo was also a member of the editorial team. Daniela Dahn, Ralph Hartmann , Dietrich Kittner , Monika Köhler , Lothar Kusche , Otto Meyer , Jürgen Rose , Peter Turrini , Gerhard Zwerenz and Ingrid Zwerenz are or were permanent employees.

In terms of content and design, it is based closely on the model Die Weltbühne from the Weimar Republic . When the editors announced the publication of the magazine in September 1997, it was even assumed that the paper would be called Weltbühne . According Spoos the former publisher and editor in until 1993 was East Berlin published world stage , Helmut Reinhardt , the Ossietzky assured -Herausgebern that he possessed the title rights to the name and they would leave the new project. The magazine first appeared in Hanover , where the Ossietzky publishing house is still based today; in 2000 the headquarters of the editorial office was relocated to Berlin . The magazine is a cooperation partner of the Internet portal Linksnet .
