Andreas Stahl

Andreas Stahl (born March 5, 1955 in Frauenfeld , Canton Thurgau ) is a Swiss composer .

Life

Andreas Stahl was the second of four sons of the farmer Arthur Stahl and the former nurse Roswitha Stahl, nee. Steinbring, born in Bremen. In 1961 the family moved with a total of two children to Aarau , then to Bubikon in the Zurich Oberland . After attending elementary and secondary school and the final maturity at the Cantonal School Zurich Oberland in Wetzikon Steel acquired the ability to a primary school teacher and studied at the Zurich Conservatory Flute and Hans Ulrich Lehmann composition . In addition to his work as an instrumental teacher, Stahl gained his first experience as a composer and concert organizer in the “working group factory composition” of the Rote Fabrik Zurich . From 1991 to 1994 he completed a postgraduate course in composition with Mathias Spahlinger and an additional subject in music theory with Peter Förtig and Cornelius Schwehr at the Freiburg University of Music . The scholarship holder of the Akademie Schloss Solitude , Stuttgart, and the Künstlerhaus Schloss Wiepersdorf has been a lecturer in music theory since 1995 , and professor for composition and music theory at the Bern University of the Arts from 2002 to 2018 . From 2004 to 2014 he was in charge of the Bachelor of Music program there. His works have been performed at festivals, cycles and collaborations such as the Illingen Music Days, the Darmstadt Spring Conference, “ex negativo” Berlin, “The Phantom the Opera” Karlsruhe, Klangraum Stuttgart, Days for New Music Zurich, and the Festival of the Arts Switzerland and in the State Theater Stuttgart . The interpreters of his works include Ensemble recherche , Ensemble Aventure , Surplus Freiburg, Polarity Percussion Ensemble Karlsruhe, Klangforum Wien , Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin, Ensemble der IGNM (Basel), Aleph Guitar Quartet and others. His compositions, interviews and portraits were broadcast by several Swiss and German broadcasters.

He lives with his partner in Zurich and on Ithaca .
