Cornelius Schwehr

Cornelius Schwehr (born December 23, 1953 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German composer .

Life

From 1971 to 1975 he took composition lessons with Walter Heck in Freiburg. This was followed by studies from 1975 to 1981 in theory with Peter Förtig , composition with Klaus Huber and guitar with Denise Lavenchy at the Freiburg University of Music . From 1981 to 1983 he studied composition with Helmut Lachenmann at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts . From 1981 to 1995 he was a lecturer in Freiburg, Karlsruhe and at the Winterthur Conservatory . He was a scholarship holder of the Heinrich Strobel Foundation and the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation . Since 1995 he has been professor of composition, music theory and film music at the Freiburg University of Music. He wrote many works for a wide variety of instrumentations and instruments.

As a composer for film music he was a. a. Involved in several films by Didi Danquart , including Der Pannwitzblick (1991) and Bittere Kirschen (2011). On behalf of ZDF / Arte, he composed a new film music for the silent film The tired death by Fritz Lang , which premiered in 2016 and was broadcast in Arte.

Since 2009 he has been a member of the Berlin Academy of the Arts .
