The Ensemble Aventure , founded in Freiburg in 1986 , is one of the most respected European ensembles for new music .

overview

The Aventure ensemble was founded at the beginning of 1986 around the Freiburg University of Music and consists of fifteen distinguished instrumentalists who play music together in changing line-ups. The concert programs include works by the Second Vienna School , the New York School and the Darmstadt School , Dada , Fluxus and Conceptual Art, as well as works by displaced and forgotten composers. For the line-up of Edgar Varèses , the composition Octandre (seven wind instruments and double bass), which was already presented in the debut concert , but also for many other line-ups, the ensemble has since commissioned numerous compositions; in total it has played several hundred world premieres . Since the early 1990s, the Aventure ensemble has been invited to renowned festivals and important concert series; Tours have led to other European countries, East Asia and time and again to Latin America . A Freiburg concert series with usually six seasonal concerts has existed since 1991. In 1995 the ensemble found a permanent location in the rooms of the Elisabeth Schneider Foundation not only for this series of concerts, but also for rehearsals.

In addition to the concert activity, numerous recordings for the Südwestrundfunk and other broadcasters as well as around twenty CD recordings have been made. In 1995 the Ensemble Aventure received the Regional Music Prize of the European Economy, in 1996 and 1998 a prize from the German record criticism , in 1996 and 2011 a sponsorship prize from the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation and in 2006 - for one at the Donaueschinger Musiktage together with schoolgirls and students presented the John Cage project - a prize from the Kulturstiftung der Länder . A Freiburg culture and events newspaper characterized the Aventure ensemble with the following words:

“It has rediscovered composers who were ostracized under National Socialism. It seeks contact with non-European music. It wants to shake up and move emotionally, wants to be a sting and by no means be boring. "
