Wolfgang Rüdiger (musician)

Wolfgang Rüdiger (* 1957 in Mönchengladbach ) is a German bassoonist , music teacher and musicologist .

biography

Initially, Wolfgang Rüdiger studied school music with the main subjects piano and bassoon at the Folkwang University in Essen, as well as philosophy and pedagogy at the University of Essen . In Freiburg he completed a postgraduate course in bassoon with Karl-Otto Hartmann and a doctoral degree in musicology with Hans Heinrich Eggebrecht .

Rüdiger taught piano and bassoon at the music schools in Mönchengladbach and Freiburg, then also bassoon, methodology and instrumental education at the Freiburg University of Music . From 1998 to 2001 he was professor for music education and bassoon and headed the music education course at the Bremen University of the Arts . Rüdiger has been Professor of Music Education and Instrumental Didactics since 2001 and heads the Music Education program at the Robert Schumann University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf .

In 1986 he co-founded the Ensemble Aventure , which has developed into one of the most important European ensembles for new music , and continues to be its bassoonist and artistic director. There are also solo commitments at home and abroad.

Wolfgang Rüdiger has played numerous world premieres , participated in many radio and CD recordings and received numerous awards and prizes. He is the author of specialist books and articles; Among other things, he is a permanent employee of the trade journal Üben & Musiegen . His publications are mainly devoted to instrumental pedagogy, new music and music education . He is also active in advanced training with the same focus.
