Lothar Kusche
Lothar Kusche (born May 2, 1929 in Berlin ; † August 20, 2016 there ) was a German columnist , writer and satirist . Kusche was best known in the GDR .
Life and work
The Kusche, who came from a middle-class background, grew up in Berlin. After the war he worked in East Berlin as an editor for various satirical magazines. His texts have appeared in the (GDR) Weltbühne and Ulenspiegel , some of them under the pseudonym Felix Mantel . In total, his books, published by Aufbau Verlag and Eulenspiegel Verlag , reached a circulation of more than 2.5 million copies. At times Kusche was deputy editor-in-chief of the Weltbühne and dramaturge at the cabaret Die Distel . He also wrote humorous travelogues about Siberia (no vodka for the prosecutor) and Great Britain (across England in an hour and a half) as well as scripts. In 1971 he played in the DEFA comedy The Man Who Came After Grandma , for which he had also written the scenario, in a supporting role.
Kush's satires were mainly based on Kurt Tucholsky . He was an honorary member of Bobrowski's New Friedrichshagener Poet Circle and a member of the PEN Center Germany .
Lothar Kusche was married to Renate Holland-Moritz for a few years . He died on August 20, 2016 at the age of 87 in Berlin. His grave is in the Friedrichsfelde Central Cemetery .
