Kuczynski prepared a study of compensation claims for forced labor in the 'Third Reich' on the basis of the additional income and profits made at the time , in which he calculated that the Federal Republic of Germany owed the victims of forced labor in Nazi Germany around DM 180.5 billion. Later, in his book Brosamen vom Herrentisch , he increased this number to 228 billion DM (116 billion euros).

In 2007 Thomas Kuczynski took part in the theater project Karl Marx: Das Kapital first volume , directed by Helgard Haug, Daniel Wetzel ( Rimini Protokoll ), (production: Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus ; coproduction: Schauspielhaus Zürich , schauspielfrankfurt and Hebbel am Ufer , Berlin).

For more than 20 years he has worked on a reader-friendly edition of Chapter Volume 1 . The new text edition is based on the comparison of the German with the French edition, which was requested by Karl Marx , but not realized. Not only these two, but all editions and translations edited by Marx and Engels have been taken into account. With this, Thomas Kuczynski realizes a project that was tackled at the Marx-Engels Institute in Moscow at the time, but was never implemented after its closure (1931), whereby the state of research achieved in the Marx-Engels Complete Edition is of course taken into account.

He is a member of the scientific advisory board of the SALZ e. V.
