Rita Kuczynski (born February 25, 1944 in Neidenburg , Masuria ) is a German writer , philosopher and publicist .

Life

Rita Kuczynski grew up in East and West Berlin and studied music (piano, organ) from 1956 to 1962 . She then went on to study piano at the Leningrad Conservatory . From 1965 to 1970 she studied philosophy at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig and the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 1971 she became an assistant at the Institute for Philosophy at the Academy of Sciences of the GDR . The following year she married Thomas Kuczynski . With a doctoral thesis on Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel , she achieved her PhD A at the Academy in 1975 . From 1981 to 1990 she lived as a freelance writer.

In 1987 she received a visiting professorship in philosophy and literature at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York . She has lectured and lectured at Columbia University , the University of Minnesota and the University of Maryland, and the German Studies Association . Separated from her husband after reunification (GDR) , she went to the Universidad de Chile as a visiting professor for languages ​​in 1991 .
