Zdeněk Beneš

Zdeněk Beneš (born September 5, 1952 in Chomutov ) is a Czech historian.

Life

After his apprenticeship as an offset printer and A-levels in 1972, he began studying history and philosophy at the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University in Prague , which he completed with his thesis on the subject of methodological problems of Czech humanistic histography 1547–1600 . In 1980 he received his doctorate in philosophy. From 1984 to 1988 he worked as a scientific aspirant at the university. Since 1994 he has been a lecturer and since 2002 he has been a professor of Czech history.

Beneš participates in numerous commissions and bodies, including the German-Czech Historical Commission , the editorial board of the Masaryk Collection. He is the chairman of the Czech-German Commission on History in Schools, the editorial board of Pedagogika magazine and the Matice Moravská magazine , member of the doctoral council of the Institute for International Studies, the editorial board of the Czech Historical Magazine and others.
