Zdeněk Jiskra (born December 15, 1928 in Prague ) is a Czech onomastics . His main interest is in the research area of hydronymics . From the 1970s he published numerous influential works and scientific publications in Czech and German on the origins of names for rivers and towns. He was a participant in the onomastic seminar with Vladimír Šmilauer in Prague and prepared a publication on the subject of European exonyms . Since 1997 Jiskra has written four monographs of the series "Hydronymia Bohemiae Occidentalis" , which were published in Trutnov until 2006.
