The Alb mine was a small mine in the Vormholz district of Witten . The colliery went into operation on January 1, 1952, and was shut down just 25 months later, on January 31, 1954.

In the first year of operation, 43 miners extracted 4,506 tons of hard coal . Production rose to 8,124 tonnes in the following year. This almost twice as high production was achieved with only 16 miners.
