The Hünninghauserbank colliery in Essen-Steele -Freisenbruch is a former hard coal mine . The colliery emerged from the Hünninghauser Kohlberg colliery and was also known as the Hünninghausen colliery .

Mining history

Around the year 1728 the Hünninghauser Kohlberg colliery was established by the Hünninghausen et Consorten company . The mine was supposed to be used to supply the Steeler glassworks with fuel; later the mine was called the Hünninghauserbank mine . On April 20, 1745, a length field was awarded . There is evidence that the mine was in operation between 1749 and 1751. During this time, the operational accounting was carried out together with Kohlberg an der Glashütte. For the year 1751, a monthly production of about 50 tons of hard coal is given. Since the glassworks had been closed, the mine was shut down in 1754 and 1755. In 1761 and 1762 the mine was back in operation. For the dismantling of the Hüninghauser Banck & Nebenbanck , the tithe had to be paid in 1762 and 1763 .

In the years 1774 to 1776 the mine was in deadlines set. On April 20, 1775, the award was given to a mine field with the name Hünninghauser and Nebenbank . The mine was still in operation in 1781, but was shut down the following year. The reason for the closure was the charred deposit. The mine was later put back into operation. In that year the colliery was also called Jammenölt colliery . Around the year 1823 the colliery was finally shut down, the coal deliveries were taken over by the colliery Eintracht. In 1827 consolidated the bill Hünninghauserbank with other mines to mine unity .
