The bill Holthausen was a small coal mine in Dortmund district Holthausen .

Mining history

The company began in 1898 and was discontinued around 1904. Founders or operators can no longer be clearly identified today. The farmer Westermann, but also the Krämer distillery, is often named as the owner.

A shaft was sunk , which hit coal after about 120 m . The shaft was located about 100 m northwest of today's Holthauser Strasse / Westhang and 80 m south of Wittichstrasse. Today there is a wood there. There was a mechanical access device.

Less than 30 tons of coal were extracted from the up to 25 miners employed each year. Based on the amount, it is likely that it was not a continuous operation. Even today there is mocking talk of the "mine by the bucket" in miners' circles.

Around 1902, the sinking of another shaft at Evinger Strasse / Schiffhorst began, which, however, was abandoned at a depth of less than 40 m. The pit that had been sunk was further sunk as shaft 6 by the Minister Stein colliery in 1938 . After the shutdown of the Minister Stein mine, a concrete slab was placed on the shaft , which is still visible today.
