The Sunshine Colliery in Essen was a hard coal mine in what is now the Rellinghausen district .
history
This Essen colliery was already in operation in 1721. In 1806, the neighboring pit colliery waterfall was taken over through consolidation . The responsible mining authority Werden forbade another merger with the Zeche Artwork . Between 1814 and 1817, the Sonnenschein colliery was equipped with machines from Franz Dinnendahl . In 1821 the colliery stopped mining. The mining field was taken over by the artwork colliery.
Current condition
Today there is nothing left at the location of the Sonnenschein colliery, which was located southwest of the current intersection of Wuppertaler Strasse and Frankenstrasse.
