The Zeche Sophia is a former hard coal mine in the Wichlinghofen district of Dortmund . The mine was also known as the Zeche Sophia in the east , the Zeche Sophia in the west and the Zeche Sophia in the Hagetheuer Mark .

Mining history

The mine had been in operation for several years from 1740. For the year 1754 a workforce of three miners is named in the documents. In 1771 there was a legal dispute with the Melchertsbank colliery. Later the pit field fell into the mountain free . On April 30, 1799, a new meeting was introduced. The mine then went back into operation, after which the mine was closed again. In 1806 the Carlsbank and Caspar Friedrich collieries illegally appropriated the mine’s remaining coal reserves.
