The mine in Essen-Stadtwald is a former hard coal mine . The mine was mentioned in the documents as early as 1755. It was located in the area of ​​the tennis courts on what is now the Frankenstrasse / Agidiusstrasse.

Mining history

In 1771 the concession for mining was granted. In 1802 the production rate was 16 ringlets of hard coal per day. From 1807 the mine was out of service for several years. From May of 1832 was a cross heading southwards ascended . The Berechtsame included at this time two length fields . This year four miners were employed at the mine. In 1834 a conveyor tunnel was excavated. That year, four miners were still employed at the mine. In 1836, 4695 3/4 tons of coal were mined from Prussia . The coal was stored in the coal store on the Ruhr . In the following year, the production rose to 8551 ½ Prussian tons of hard coal. In 1840, 1913 tons of hard coal were initially mined. However, after the mine lost a trial against the United Krusenberg mine , it was shut down in April of the same year.
