The United Carlsglück & Planetfeld colliery was a hard coal mine in the western Dortmund district of Dorstfeld .

The colliery emerged from a consolidation with the planet field colliery with the United Carlsglück colliery and until 1889, as an independent mine, initially exploited near-surface coal seams in tunnel mining and later switched to underground mining .

The colliery had a Carlsglück mine on Wittener Strasse and the planet field mine in the area of today's motorway exit Dorstfeld / University. The ventilation of the Adolph shaft can still be found here on the site of the motorway maintenance depot. The shaft was conveyed and weathered in one shaft and was shut down in 1899 for safety reasons. Today's dead-end street Schachtstraße , which at that time ran exactly towards the entrance to the mine, and the planet field street are still reminiscent of the mine .

The mine changed hands several times and in 1889 the United Carlsglück & Planetfeld mine was taken over by the Dorstfeld mine . The colliery was popularly nicknamed "Wahne Uhle" (Low German for "crazy owl"). This was an allusion to the old Carlsglück shaft structure, which is reminiscent of an owl, and the unsafe conditions due to the repeated change of ownership. In 1953 a street in the Dorstfeld district was named Wahne Uhle in memory of it .
