The United Krebsenscheer colliery in Essen-Bredeney- Heide is a former hard coal mine . Despite its more than 35-year history, the mine was only in operation for 20 years. The Krebsenscheer colliery was one of the founding members of the Association for Mining Interests .

Mining history

On June 15, 1853, a length field was awarded . The award related to three seams , above all the Geitling seam. From the 2nd quarter of 1855 coal was already being mined . In 1858 the Friedrich shaft was mined. In 1865 the mine was demonstrably in operation. In 1868 the mine was shut down for a few months. The reason for this was the construction of a railway line. The mine was put back into operation the following year. In 1878 the coal reserves were depleted above the tunnel floor. In the same year the United Krebsenscheer colliery was shut down. In 1888, which was Berechtsame the colliery Langenbrahm slammed shut.

Promotion and workforce

The first known workforce figures come from the year 1858, when 34 miners were employed at the colliery. The first known extraction figures come from the year 1861, when 19 miners produced 11,855 Prussian tons of hard coal . In 1867, six miners extracted 706 tons of hard coal. In 1869, nine miners extracted 1,780 tons of hard coal. In 1870, five miners extracted 1,161 tons of hard coal. In 1873, 15 miners produced 3540 tons of hard coal. This was the maximum output from the mine. In 1876, seven miners extracted 1,525 tons of hard coal. The last known production and workforce figures for the mine come from the year 1878, when 485 tons of hard coal were extracted with three miners.
