Zeghanghane (from the mazirischen ⴰⵣⵖⵏⵖⴰⵏ Azɣenɣan , "fortress"; arabic أزغنغان Azghanghan , DMG Azġanġān ) (also: Segangane ) is a small town in the Moroccan province of Nador . In 2014 it had 34,025 inhabitants.

The place belonged to Spanish Morocco at the beginning of the 20th century and was the scene of the Rif War.

The residents of Zeghanghane are of Berber descent and also speak Arabic, Spanish and French. Every Monday and Thursday the great souk of Zeghanghane takes place, which is well attended by residents of neighboring towns and communities. You can find all kinds of things there, from live sheep and chickens to oriental spices.

One of the sights of Zeghanghane is the mountain Gourgou, which is the most famous in the province of Nador. From this mountain you can see over the entire province of Nador. There you will find a wide variety of leisure activities such as quad tours or horse riding, camping facilities with bungalows and a larger hotel complex.

Zeghanghane serves with a palace as accommodation for King Mohammed VI., Who regularly visits the province of Nador to promote the development of this region.

When it was no longer part of Spain, Zeghanghane was neglected for a long time, especially at the time of King Hassan II . This created economic problems that increased both crime and emigration. A large number of the residents of Zeghangane therefore have relatives in Europe, especially in Spain and France, and later also in Germany and the Benelux countries. Due to the emigrants, the economic situation has improved in recent decades, as they built houses with their financial strength and thus particularly promoted the construction sector. As a result, the number of employed workers has increased and the crime rate has decreased in recent years.
