The Zehlendorfer oak ( pronunciation ? / I ) is a pedunculate oak with a broad crown in the center of the Berlin district of Zehlendorf . Audio file / audio sample

It characterizes the intersection between Potsdamer and Berliner Strasse ( B1 ) as well as Clayallee (with a connection to Kurfürstendamm ) and Teltower Damm (to Teltow ), important main streets that meet there. After the end of the Franco-Prussian War , the tree was planted as a peace oak on the first anniversary of the Battle of Sedan , September 2, 1871. This is also indicated by a bronze plaque on the south side of the trunk.

The tree is protected as a natural monument No. 6-31 / B (X-42B) for cultural reasons . A bench running around the trunk invites you to linger in its shade.

The Zehlendorf local history museum and the Zehlendorf village church are also in the immediate vicinity .
