time shift
The time shift , also called the time difference or the time difference ( English time offset , French décalage horaire ), is the distance between different time systems, formed for example from the difference
- between the zone times of two locations in different time zones ,
- between a zone time and UTC world time ,
- between two legal times within an area (state) with temporarily different legal times (usually between zone time and summer time ),
- between a zone time and the solar time applicable for this location ,
- between the politically applicable zone time for a location and the geographically appropriate zone time for this location.
Time difference also stands for
- changing the time information in schedules (e.g. radio program schedules) by changing the time, see summer time
- in travel medicine, the deviation of the internal clock from the local time, see jet lag
- in the special theory of relativity the dependence of time on speed, see time dilation
- in some technical device types the delay time
- in wave theory the phase shift .
Time difference and time difference also stand for
- a time interval
- a section on a timescale
- the distance between two points in time .
