Zelení

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zelení , German Die Grünen , is a small party grouping from the left-wing green spectrum in the Czech Republic (next to Strana zelených and Demokratická strana zelených ). The registration took place on January 23, 2006. The party is abbreviated with "Z" or "ph Z" (for politické hnutí Zelení - political movement Zelení ).

The party came into being in autumn 2005 after wing clashes in the Strana zelených, after some members of the new leadership under Martin Bursík accused them of abandoning the party's green party principles. Small parts of the party under the leadership of the well-known publicist and green activist Jakub Patočka left the party and founded a new one, Zelení.

Zelení refers to the old program of the Green Party, which was implemented and approved in 2003 by the Patočka parliamentary group under the name Vize ekologické demokracie (Vision of ecological democracy). The Zelení members saw no possibility of implementing this program in the old party. In their view, the departure from the principles of the program also later manifested itself in the formation of a government coalition between the Green Party and the conservative ODS party in 2007. The program of the new Zelení party, published in 2006, largely corresponds to the old document from 2003. Zelení are pro-European oriented and refer to the program of the Green Group The Greens / European Free Alliance in the European Parliament .
