The Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia ( Armenian Հայաստանի Հանրապետության Կենտրոնական բանկ , in scientific transliteration Hayastani Kentronakan Bank) is the central bank of Armenia .

After the independence from the Soviet Union was declared on September 21, 1991, the National Bank of the Armenian SSR still existed , which now performed the new tasks as the National Bank of Armenia. On March 27, 1993, the Law on the New Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia was passed. In 1993 the dram was also introduced as a new currency. The central bank has a flexible exchange rate policy and focuses on fighting inflation.
