The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan ( Azerbaijani Azərbaycan Respublikasının Mərkəzi Bankı ) is the central bank of Azerbaijan . The headquarters of the Azerbaijani Central Bank is located in the capital Baku .
After the declaration of independence from the Soviet Union on October 18, 1991, the National Bank of the Azerbaijani SSR still existed , which now performed the new tasks as the National Bank of Azerbaijan. On February 11, 1992, the new Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan was established. In 1992 the manat was also introduced as a new currency . The central bank has a flexible exchange rate policy and focuses on fighting inflation .
