The central mosque Freetown ( English Freetown Central Mosque ) is the main mosque of the Sierra Leonean capital Freetown . It is one of the two largest in the country and one of at least 19 in Freetown. It is led by the chief imam Sheikh Ahmad Tejan Sillah .

As everywhere in the country, a very moderate form of Islam is lived. It is not uncommon for many believers to combine the Islamic and Christian beliefs.

The mosque is not to be confused with the Muammar-al-Gaddafi Mosque ( 8 ° 27 ′ 44.6 ″  N , 13 ° 10 ′ 22.4 ″  W ) in the east of the city, which is often referred to as the central mosque and from the Libyan one Revolutionary leader Muammar al-Gaddafi was funded. It was built in the 2000s.
