from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Central Council of Oriental Christians in Germany (ZOCD) represents Christians living in Germany who belong to the Eastern Churches. It is organized as a registered association and was founded in March 2013.

Members

According to the ZOCD, around 200,000 Christians from oriental countries live in Germany. These are, on the one hand, migrant workers and their descendants, and, on the other hand, refugees with a variety of different forms of recognition. The Central Council represents Christians of the Oriental Orthodox Churches in the broader sense, i.e. H. both the East Syrian churches - also known as Chaldean or "Nestorian" Christians - and the so-called "Monophysitic" (more precisely "Miaphysitic" ) churches. The Byzantine Orthodox Christians are not represented by the Central Council due to their established representations.

The members of the oriental churches come mainly from Syria , Iraq , Egypt and Turkey .

aims

The Central Council promotes the cultural and religious tasks of the individual communities of oriental Christians and works for the integration of its members in Germany. In particular in youth work he conveys the diversity of the Christian churches. He is also committed to the free practice of religion in the countries of origin.
