Central Switzerland Youth Symphony Orchestra

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Central Switzerland Youth Symphony Orchestra (ZJSO) is a symphony orchestra from Central Switzerland for young musicians. The members are between 14 and 26 years old and come from Central Switzerland. The orchestra operates independently of music schools and is organized as an association. The musical director is the Lucerne pianist, composer and conductor Joseph Sieber. The line-up varies between 30 and 80 musicians depending on the work being played.

history

The Central Switzerland Youth Symphony Orchestra was founded in Lucerne in 2012. At that time there was no cross-cantonal symphony orchestra. The ZJSO put the focus on “cross-over projects”, in which concert elements from classical music were combined with pop music. In 2012 the ZJSO realized the project “Beathoven” together with the Bernese rapper Steffe La Cheffe , which combined works by the classical composer Ludwig van Beethoven with hip-hop music. In 2014 the ZJSO worked as a stage orchestra in the music theater production "Verona 3000". In 2015 the KKL Luzern engaged the Central Switzerland Youth Symphony Orchestra to produce an image film for the presentation of the KKL Luzern. At the end of 2016, the ZJSO played for the first time in the concert hall of the KKL Luzern on the occasion of its five-year anniversary . In 2017 it took part in the Gionvanili Festival Orchestra in Tuscany .

occupation

The orchestra line-up is redefined for each project in order to realize programs of different sizes. Most of the musicians are amateurs. You will be supported by aspiring professional musicians.

Trial run

The ZJSO is organized in projects. The rehearsals usually take place on weekends. The ZJSO chamber ensemble meets weekly with a smaller cast and rehearses independently of the current projects in order to practice orchestral playing. The members are regularly coached by musicians from Central Switzerland, such as members of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra .

Awards

In 2014 the ZJSO reached 2nd place at the VALIANTforum for young orchestras with Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in C minor. In 2015, the orchestra was awarded the Albert Koechlin Foundation from Lucerne.
