The socio-cultural center for action, culture and communication (zakk) in Düsseldorf at Fichtenstrasse 40 is one of the oldest and largest of its kind in Germany. Its founding in 1977 was intended to enable the then so-called hands - on culture or cultural participation for everyone. A regular cultural program has been organized in a converted factory hall in the Flingern district since the early 1980s .

The program is made up of the main emphasis on word and stage, politics and society, music and various projects, plus discos and events related to the new media / internet. More than 150,000 visitors came to over 900 large and small events in 2017.

As a socio-cultural center , the zakk follows the approach of not separating culture and society , but rather using cultural means to thematize socio-political content and combine it with aesthetic enjoyment.

The cultural center has been headed by Jochen Molck since 2004 .
