The cervix score is a classification system for assessing the functional status of the cervix ( cervix uteri , cervix). It was proposed by Vaclav Insler and, based on the amount, consistency, spinnability, the bracken phenomenon of the cervical mucus and the width of the external cervix, allows an estimation of the hormonal status, which can be supplemented with vaginal cytology . The maximum value is 12 points. This occurs in the middle of the menstrual cycle at the time of the follicle rupture . Sperm can penetrate the mucus with a score of 8 or more.

Points 0 1 2 3
Amount of cervical mucus no little increased, shiny drop copious, spontaneously draining
Spinnability no 1/4 the length of the sheath well, 1/2 the length of the sheath very good, thread can be pulled up to the vulva
Fern phenomenon no fine lines in some places good, with lateral branches well defined throughout the preparation
external cervix closed closed slightly open, passable for probe wide open
