Zhang Bo (historian)
Zhang Bo ( Chinese 張 勃 , Pinyin Zhāng Bó ) was a Chinese historian. He lived under the Wu Dynasty at the time of the Three Kingdoms .
His father was allegedly the court official Zhang Yan ( 張 儼 , Zhāng Yǎn , † 266), the author of Mo ji ("private records"). Zhang Bo was born between 220 and 230. His activity as a chronicler indicates that he had access to the imperial archives, but his career and position are unknown. His private chronicle Wu lu ("Records of Wu") is composed of letters and field reports and covers the events in Wu state up to the death of Emperor Sun Hao (whom Zhang Bo dates to the year 285).
The chronicle is only preserved in fragments. In the early 5th century it was used by Pei Songzhi to revise the Chronicles of the Three Kingdoms . Historical works from the Tang Dynasty give the original scope of 30 chapters.
