Zhang Lu (politician)
Zhang Lu ( Chinese 張魯 / 张鲁 , Pinyin Zhāng Lǔ , W.-G. Chang Lu ;) Zì : Gongqi ( Chinese 公 祺 , Pinyin Gōngqí , W.-G. Kung-chi ) was the commander of Hanzhong in the run-up to the Three Kingdoms Period in ancient China.
He inherited the post and the Five Bushels Rice Movement (see Heavenly Master ) from his father Zhang Heng and his grandfather Zhang Daoling , respectively . Zhang Lu was attacked by the warlord Cao Cao in 212 and was initially able to assert himself thanks to his skilled minister and general Yan Pu . But after three years he was finally forced to submit to Cao Cao. With this, Cao Cao gained control of the important border town of Hanzhong and dominated northern China.
