Zhang Xinguang
Zhang Xinguang ( Chinese 张 新 广 ; * around 1965 ) is a former Chinese badminton player .
Career
Zhang Xinguang is one of a large number of Chinese badminton players who would have dominated the sport for a long time in almost every European country, but who only played a short time in the Middle Kingdom due to strong national competition. Zhang Xinguang used this time to win the Polish Open 1984 in doubles with Wang Jian and in mixed with Gao Meifeng . He achieved his greatest success a year later when he won bronze in mixed with Lao Yujing at the 1985 Badminton World Championships . They beat England's Andy Goode and Gillian Clark 15: 0 and 15: 4 in the quarter-finals , but then lost in the semi-finals to Stefan Karlsson and Maria Bengtsson from Sweden in three sets. At the Hong Kong Open of the same year, both finished fifth.
