Career

Zhang Xinguang used this time to win the Polish Open 1984 in doubles with Wang Jian and in mixed with Gao Meifeng . He achieved his greatest success a year later when he won bronze in mixed with Lao Yujing at the 1985 Badminton World Championships . They beat England's Andy Goode and Gillian Clark 15: 0 and 15: 4 in the quarter-finals , but then lost in the semi-finals to Stefan Karlsson and Maria Bengtsson from Sweden in three sets. At the Hong Kong Open of the same year, both finished fifth.
