Zhenbao Dao ( Chinese  珍宝岛 , Pinyin Zhēnbǎo Dǎo ; Russian Даманский Damanski ) is an inland island in the Russian-Chinese border river Ussuri . It is located in the independent city Hulin that the administrative territory of the prefecture-level city Jixi in the Chinese province of Heilongjiang belongs.

Zhenbao Dao has an area of 0.74 km 2 , is 1.7 km long and 0.5 km wide, and is 120 meters from the west bank and 360 meters from the Russian east bank. Historically, it belongs to China, but was occupied by the Russian Empire. In 1969 it was the most important scene of the border conflict on the Ussuri with the Soviet Union , which wanted to exercise supposed rights from the Tsarist era. In 2005, the mutual ratification of the border treaty between the People's Republic of China and the Russian Federation finally clarified that Zhenbao Dao is Chinese territory. From an administrative point of view, the island is now a municipality of the city of Hulin and is called Zhenbaodao (珍宝岛 乡).

The flat island is part of the Heilongjiang Zhenbaodao Wetland National Nature Reserve , a nature and bird sanctuary.
