Zhouzhuang (Kunshan)

Zhouzhuang ( Chinese  周庄镇 , Pinyin Zhōuzhuāng Zhèn ) is a large municipality in the independent city of Kunshan in the Chinese province of Jiangsu . Zhouzhuang has an area of ​​36.05 km² and a population of 30,367 (end of 2009).

Zhouzhuang is one of the most famous "water cities" in China and accordingly the destination of many tourists. The historic core is criss-crossed by canals and numerous old buildings can be visited. Zhouzhuang is also (like some other "water cities" in the region) called the "Venice of the East". Zhouzhuang is also one of the famous Six Ancient Large Communities of Jiangnan (江南 六大 古镇).

October 2019 the Mini Golf World Championships will take place in Zhouzhuang.

Administrative structure

Zhouzhuang is made up of two communities and ten villages. These are:

Resident Community Zhenfengli (贞丰里社区), government seat of the greater community;

Dongbang Village (东 浜 村);
Fuxing Village (复兴 村);
Village Gaoyong (高勇村);
Village Longfeng (龙凤村);

Nanhu Village (南湖 村);
Qibang village (祁 浜 村);
Village Quanwang (全旺村);
Shuangmiao Village (双 庙村);
Yunnan Village (云南 村).
