Derek Wong Zi Liang (born January 13, 1989 in Singapore ) is a Singaporean badminton player . His father is Wong Shoon Keat , also a successful badminton player.

Career

Derek Wong Zi Liang won all three possible titles at the singles championships in Singapore in the 2006/2007 season. In 2009 he was fifth in the singles at the Southeast Asian Games. At the Commonwealth Games 2010 he was fourth in the team standings with his country's team. He was also fourth in the men's doubles. In the bronze medal he lost with Chayut Triyachart against his compatriots Hendri Kurniawan Saputra and Hendra Wijaya in two sets. In the men's singles he finished fifth at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
