Pull paths are often narrow, not too steep paths that were created for agriculture and forestry in order to pull the hay cut in summer and the wood prepared in autumn in winter with horn sleds or horse-drawn sleighs over snow into the valley.

Today, such paths often connect key points in ski areas , for example ski slopes, lifts and cable cars, but also serve to bypass difficult terrain such as steep sections of slopes.
