A horse-drawn sleigh is a horse- drawn vehicle .

Today, sleighs are mostly used as sports or leisure equipment, and sleigh races are held especially in snowy countries.

In winter sports resorts, horse-drawn sledges are used to transport people.

In the past, horse-drawn sleighs were used primarily in agriculture for transporting wood when there was enough snow, and sometimes instead of horse-drawn wagons to transport hay and straw from field stalls to the farm. Sledges were used less for passenger transport. King Ludwig II of Bavaria is famous as a lonely sledge driver in the winter night.

In North America you can see sleds with leaf springs, split, ski-like runners and a slewing ring . In Europe there are almost only sleds with the unsprung construction with two continuous metal runners that has been common for centuries. However, it is often supplemented by a set of wheels. Depending on the snow conditions, you can then switch between carriage and sleigh operation.
