The Zingster Strom is a river-like part of the Barther Bodden south of Zingst. It is formed by the island of Kirr and the Zingst and runs in an east-west direction in a semicircular arc that opens to the south. Sometimes it is less than a hundred meters wide and around three kilometers long. In contrast to the rather shallow neighboring waters, it is sometimes over six meters deep. At its northernmost point is the place Zingst with its harbor and a water hiker resting place . The two smaller islands Brunstwerder and Gänsebrink are in the stream. The river used to have direct access to the Baltic Sea via the Alte Stramminke .
