Zinifex was an Australian company headquartered in Melbourne , Australia . The company was listed in the S & P / ASX 50 share index. The company mined zinc and lead and operated zinc refineries and lead smelters.

Company history

Zinifex was founded in 2004 as a result of the bankruptcy proceedings of the Pasminco company .

The company Nyrstar was founded on August 31, 2007 through the merger ( joint venture ) of the zinc smelting activities of the Belgian Umicore and the zinc and lead smelting activities of the Australian Zinifex. In 2008 the company merged with Oxiana Limited to form OZ Minerals .
