history

On June 2nd, 1878, the first missionary lesson took place in Meßhausen near Soltau. The next day the Zion Church was officially organized. On July 26, 1878, an emergency church in Meßhausen was consecrated, and bells were bought a year later. In 1888 the Zionskirche was inaugurated in the Neutetendorf district of Soltau. The church was renovated for the first time in 1913/14, and an organ was installed, which was inaugurated on July 9th. On April 17, 1945, the rectory burned down completely after being shot at. Three years later the new rectory could be moved into again. The new parish hall was inaugurated in September 1952, and in 1959 the nave was given stained glass windows. In 1973 a new parish hall was built. During a renewed renovation in 1977, the longitudinal gallery on the north side was removed and the transverse pore widened. In 1992 a new heating system was installed and in 2000 the entire church was renovated. For the 125th anniversary of the parish in 2003, the Zionskirche received a new pipe organ . In 2018, the community celebrated 130 years of consecration. In addition, the Zionskirche was the seat of the superintendent of the church district from 2013 to 2018. After Markus Nietzke was elected as the new superintendent, he was moved to Hermannsburg .
