Circumpolar

The adjective circumpolar (from Latin circum , 'around' and ancient Greek pólos 'pivot point, axis, pole' ) stands for:

  • Circumpolar (astronomy) , all year round visible, the celestial pole seemingly orbiting astronomical objects
  • zirkumpolar (geography) (also spelled "circumpolar"), the distribution of species within one or more climatic zones around the globe - usually supplemented by additional information, such as B. the populated climatic zone. A special proximity to the Poles is not expressed. Is also used in ethnology for the circumpolar peoples.
